1919 - 1939
After the Great War, European thinkers challenged old traditions. Scientists and thinkers came up with new theories that changed human thought while artists created a modernized beauty. The US stock market crash in 1929 created a period of "social misery" and "economic contraction" for the majority of the world. However, the Soviet Union was able to industrialize, unlike the rest of the world, and become a military and industrial powerhouse. The economic depression, allowed for the Nazi party to rise with Hitler as the leader causing misery to many. Lastly, nationalist movements took place in Asia, creating new identities for the people.
